STANDARD BIKE MAINTENANCE COURSE - Shimano based

What to expect:-

You have the opportunity to extend the life of your bike and the enjoyment from cycling by taking better care of your bike. The most popular enquiries we get is to concentrate on the most used parts of your bike, so we concentrate the standard course on the bits you might like to do more often. Your bicycle tyres and brakes need regular maintenance, so let's start by learning more about these, get comfortable doing those and then if you feel the need, we can meet again at a more advanced course and get into the "how to" with cables and chain replacement.
Join Ray from RAYC SPORTS to develop these skills.

Ray will show you and allow you the opportunity to demonstrate the following:-
- Cleaning your bike

- Diagnosing worn/damaged tyres/tubes, and brake pads.
- Inspecting damaged and worn tubes and tyre- when it's necessary to repair or replace.
- Brake Pad assessment, cleaning, fitting and adjustments.
- Acknowledging and discussing the basic care that can prolong the life of you handlebars (including tapes), saddles (removing and cleaning), and chains (what indicators to watch for to help you get to know when it's time to change your chain).
- Class notes for refreshing your knowledge at home.

The courses can be booked on a one by one basis if necessary, although it will work out better value to hold group sessions. We completely understand though that some people would prefer to learn on a one to one basis, so please ask us for availability, and we will do our best to accommodate.
Our group classes can be booked for clubs or even schools if that would help keep our teenagers and young adults cycling longer. The ability to carry out basic maintenance is a life skill that we hope will add value to everyone that cycles.

*Minimum numbers required for group course to take place
*Participants must be 16 years or over
*Due to the COVID-19 restrictions we have the following guidelines in place:
In order to keep everyone safe, we encourage participants to wear a face covering or mask when we are indoors at all times. We would like to keep class sizes down so that the 2 metre distance can be maintained but as it's a practical course, it's not always suitable.
We will update the website once those guidelines from the HSE are updated.
