Aprés Camp at Easter in Marlfield

After the dust has settled, we can hand on heart say that we are thrilled with the cyclists during the camp! They outshone any expectations we might have had in advance. Thanks for being the kindest, funniest, hardest working campers Clonmel has ever seen!
They designed and built obstacle courses, they delivered their course ideas like seasoned professionals in a board room, they accomodated each others creative differences and they compromised in order to build 2 excellent (& challenging) courses that any cyclist would be proud to complete.
The attached video is a tiny snipped of the craic over the 3 days, and we have very little footage of the afternoon group as they were a busy bunch taking on much harder challenges. There were a lot of tired arms and legs from all the wheelie practicing :)
Looking forward to the next one already.

Thank you to Clonmel Cycling Club for the use of your equipment (bikes/tapes/cones).
Thank you to Panduit Carrick Wheelers also for the use of their equipment (ramps).
Thank you to Marlfield GAA for the unbelieveably generous availability of your clubrooms and grounds. We genuinely could not do this without your kindness and generosity.
Thank you Cycling Ireland for allowing us to take the lead on the camps and get our artistic vision from paper to grass.
Thank you to the parents and families for your ongoing support of the cycling camps. You put so much effort in to bringing the kids and bikes, we truly appreciate it.

They say it takes a village. We say it takes 3 cycling clubs, a gaa club and a very kind & hardworking Munster Development Officer (Stevie Griffin).

MARLFIELD SUMMER CAMP

During the 2025 Marlfield Summer Camp, cyclists were encouraged to attend, with  their own bikes (& helmets), develop their bike skills, get fitter, learn how to build an obstacle course, fix a puncture and hang out with other cyclists.
It was a cycling camp that included learning about cycling infrastructure and how to design, build courses and communicate as a team.
As it was our first camp - we are proud to say that the response was overwhelmingly good. We hope to have many more in to the future.
*We couldn't run these camps without the support from Cycling Ireland and Marlfield GAA. They both pulled out all the stops to ensure we had a venue and supports throughout.

The Helpers are so important <3
Thank you soooooo much xx

Typically age 6-13, but must be able to cycle independently. No stabilisers on this course.
What’s the cost?
It’s €10 for the 4 nights, you pay on the first night.
What time do we need to be there?
Be there with your bike from 5-45.
Bike needs to be in good working condition, both brakes working, tyres pumped, handlebars tight, saddle tight. If it’s not safe, NO CYCLING.
Do I need a helmet?
Yes. No helmet, no cycling.
Do I need a parent/guardian?
Yes preferably in case of any mechanicals.
Is it just doing laps of the pump track?
No. There will be an opportunity to use the pump track, but there will be a separate skills area for you to slow down your speed, and speed up your learning. Skills are developed by practicing and patience.
How do I get ready for a race environment if I’ve never been before?
We will have a mini course set up so you can get the feel for the start line, getting through corners and what to do when you finish the race.

Please enquire if you would like to take part in one of our skills days or our cycling camps....
